Mohammad Arjmand
Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Advanced Materials and Polymer Engineering
School of Engineering, UBCO
Faculty of Applied Science
Dr. Arjmand is recognized as a leading and award-winning researcher in the field of nanotechnology and polymer engineering. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus (UBCO), a Canada Research Chair in “Advanced Materials and Polymer Engineering”, and the lead of the Plastic Recycling Research Cluster (PRRC) at UBCO. Although he is early in his career, the outcomes of his research studies have been significant (accessed: July 2022): 1 book, 2 book chapters, 159 journal papers, 6 journal-featured cover photos, 2 filed patents, and 107 conference proceedings/abstracts/presentations.
During his academic career, Dr. Arjmand has been honoured with numerous awards and recognitions, such as the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering (CSChE) Innovation Award (2022), Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) Young Investigator Award (2022), Polymer Processing Society Early Career Award (2021), and Faculty Emerging Academic Award (2021-2022) and Faculty Research Excellence Award (2020-2021) in the School of Engineering at UBCO. Dr. Arjmand’s main research focus is on the synthesis and engineering of multifunctional nanomaterials (carbon nanotube, graphene, graphene quantum dots, metal-organic framework, and MXene) and the development of their polymer nanocomposites (molded, 3D printed, electrospun, hydrogel, aerogel, etc.) with enhanced physical properties, i.e., electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic shielding, sensing, wastewater treatment, mechanical, thermal, and corrosion resistance.
