Vancouver, B.C.'s Tyler Berretta, our 2021 BC Fair's Scholarship winner is described by his teachers as 'gifted' and 'promising'. Together with his recent educational pursuits at Vancouver College he gives back to the community through volunteering. Most recently he worked with Bumpin' Bakery, a non-profit founded in 2013 by Vancouver College students to serve those marginalized by injustice and poverty including residents of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
Part of the application process was development of an essay that connects agriculture in British Columbia with current issues. Tylers' submitted essay titled 'Plowing Through the Pandemic: Emerging with Agricultural Advancements', was thoroughly researched providing many insights into the challenges that agriculture faced during the past 18 months.
Tyler currently works as a Laboratory and Research Assistant at BC BioProducts Institute, with plans to travel east to attend Princeton University studying Engineering.
B.C. Fairs, Exhibitions and Festivals connects dozens of agriculture events across the province to British Columbians and the rest of the world. Our yearly $2,000 scholarship is open to students across the province. Watch this website or download our app to be notified when submissions begin.
