Meet Our New Research Team Member: Dr. Rana Alimohammadzadeh!
We're thrilled to have Rana join the BPI research family. Originally from Iran and with experience in Sweden, Rana's background is impressive. She studied and worked at Mid Sweden University, specializing in modifying cellulose and nanocellulose using eco-friendly methods.
Rana is working on creating hydrophobic cellulose-based materials, focusing on sustainable processes. She recently received the Gunnar Sundblad Young Researcher's Award 2023 in Sweden for her outstanding contributions to superhydrophobic materials made from cellulose and nanocellulose. To learn more about her research, you can watch her presentation for the defence of her doctoral thesis titled "Eco-Friendly and Catalytic Surface Engineering of Cellulose and Nanocellulose"; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVjkucG9ka4
Now, Rana is excited to collaborate with Prof. Orlando Rojas' research team at BPI. Her goal is to develop hydrophobic bio-based materials for applications like insulation and packaging. She sees great potential for collaboration between UBC and Mid Sweden University in the future.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Rana as she embarks on this exciting chapter with us at BPI!
Welcome to BPI, Dr. Rana!
