Empowering Youth in Biomaterial Innovation
This hands-on immersive program invites secondary students (Gr. 9 - 12) to discover how science and creativity can work together to shape a better world. Led by researchers from the UBC Bioproducts Institute, the event combines lab demonstrations, interactive workshops, and lively discussions that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and imagination.
Participants will engage with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and students to discover how biomaterial science is transforming everyday materials into innovative, eco-friendly solutions and gain an inspiring glimpse into the world of STEM.
This year’s pilot session welcomes Indigenous students from the St’át’imc Nation in Lillooet, BC as our guests, and serves as an important first step toward building a program that can be shared with wider communities in the years ahead.
