October 6, 2023, 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
TITLE
Experiencing the Immersive Sound Systems of Wood Waste
LOCATION: BC Hydro Theatre at the Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability (CIRS) building, 2260 West Mall, Vancouver, BC Canada V6T1Z4
ABOUT THE EVENT
This immersive session will showcase the creative work of artist, director, and composer Giorgio Magnanensi. He has crafted interconnected and interdependent sound systems using reclaimed sitka spruce, red cedar, and pacific maple wood slabs, which function as unique resonators resembling loudspeakers. Blending sound, aesthetics, and engineering, these resonators exemplify sustainable reuse. Participants will have the chance to immerse themselves in the various resonators' soundscapes, engage in a brief talk, and join a discussion about this innovative project.
