BPI Seminar by NCSU SAFI Team
April 20, 2023, 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm
TITLE
LCA and Bioproduct Developments at SAFI (Sustainable & Alternative Fibers Initiative)
LOCATION: CHBE #202, 2360 East Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z
ABOUT THE EVENT
In this presentation two first-year PhD students from NC State university will share their experience in a large team working with 20 global entities to develop and promote the utilization of alternative fibers for packaging, hygiene, nonwoven and textile products. The SAFI addresses the challenges and uncertainties that prevent the full-scale adoption of alternative fibers by looking deep into the feedstock supply chain, biomass conversion and fiber properties, fiber and product performance, techno-economic analysis, life cycle assessment and consumer perception. Students and researchers at BPI can learn about the best practices for collaborating in industry-university efforts to effectively accelerate knowledge translation.
