Chisholm Awards for Innovation in Forestry - Apply by Apr 22

April 13, 2022

Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) is inviting young researchers in the forest sector to apply for the Chisholm Awards for Innovation in Forestry, a brand new annual program built to recognize youth leadership and innovation in the forest sector; at production facilities, in the forest, along the supply chain, or via product innovation.

The program honours the legacy of Robert F. Chisholm – a former champion of the Canadian forest sector – by rewarding and showcasing the work of young researchers who are passionate about climate positive forestry and forest products, clean manufacturing, and the emerging forest bioeconomy.

Eligibility - Applicants must be students or researchers who are 30 years old or younger on March 1, 2022. Applicants must be carrying out research and innovation projects relevant for forestry, forest products, and/or forest products processing technologies – with links to academia, public or private research centers, and/or corporate research and innovation departments.

Applications are due by 11:59 pm EST on April 22, 2022.

Winners will be celebrated May 9 – 13 during the United Nations Forum on Forests. Winners will also:

  • Receive a cash prize of CAD$2,500.00;
  • Be recognized through local, regional, national, and social media promotion; and
  • Be entered to compete for the International Council of Forest and Paper Associations’ (ICFPA) Blue Sky Young Researchers Innovation Awards for the Global Forest Products Sector.
