UBC BioProducts Institute Leads Research for the Future of Pulp and Paper

The pulp and paper industry has experienced shocks in demand over the last five years, leading to the closure of pulp and paper plants across BC. With consumer preferences shifting away from traditional newsprint, the UBC BioProducts Institute looks towards research on wood fibre molecules to identify new sustainable uses for pulp and paper. This push for innovation encourages a healthier economy for British Columbia by bringing profitable projects to idle sawmills.
